Who is Pierre Bezukhov?

Pierre is a wealthy but deeply unsatisfied member of Moscow high society, stuck in a loveless marriage and drinking to numb his sense of purposelessness. He observes much of the show's action from the sidelines, narrating and reflecting on the world around him, until Natasha's crisis pulls him out of his isolation.

His arc is less about romance than self-discovery, as watching Natasha's near ruin forces Pierre to confront his own wasted potential and search for a reason to keep living with intention.
