Broadway compared with the 2014 film
On stage, Jamie tells his half of the story forward in time, almost entirely in solos such as Shiksa Goddess, Moving Too Fast, and Nobody Needs to Know. Richard LaGravenese's 2014 film has the other character present for each song and adds some dialogue; in Nobody Needs to Know, Jeremy Jordan's real-life wife, Ashley Spencer, plays one of Jamie's affairs.
Norbert Leo Butz originated Jamie at Northlight Theatre in 2001 and Off-Broadway in 2002. Jeremy Jordan played him in the film opposite Anna Kendrick, and Nick Jonas played him in the show's first Broadway production in 2025.
