The Baker on stage vs screen
Broadway compared with the 2014 Disney film
In Disney's 2014 film, James Corden's Baker also tells the story. The movie eliminated the stage Narrator, so the Baker narrates to the audience himself. Chip Zien originated the Baker on Broadway in 1987.
The film also cut No More, the Baker's duet with the Mysterious Man, who is revealed on stage to be the Baker's father; it survives only as instrumental music, and the Mysterious Man's role was greatly reduced. The Baker keeps It Takes Two, his duet with the Baker's Wife, played by Emily Blunt.
