Broadway compared with the 1968 film
The film takes away Bill Sikes's only song. On stage, Sikes has the menacing solo My Name, but the 1968 film drops it, leaving Oliver Reed to make the villain frightening without a number of his own. The film's climax follows him onto the rooftops, where he tries to escape to an adjacent roof and is shot dead by the police.
Danny Sewell originated Sikes in the 1960 West End production and repeated the role in the original 1963 Broadway cast.
