Cynthia Weil

Who is Cynthia Weil?

Cynthia Weil writes lyrics alongside her husband Barry Mann, part of the same competitive, close knit circle of songwriters as Carole King and Gerry Goffin at the same publishing house. Sharp witted and self assured, she often serves as a grounding, steadying presence opposite Barry's anxious energy.

Her partnership with Barry, both professional and romantic, provides a warmer counterpoint to Carole and Gerry's more fraught marriage, and her friendship with Carole gives the show some of its most genuine, supportive relationships amid the pressures of the music industry.
