The 2014 film has no Daddy Warbucks at all. Jamie Foxx plays Will Stacks, a germaphobic cellphone mogul running for mayor of New York, who takes Annie in to boost his campaign. The earlier screen versions keep the Depression-era billionaire: Albert Finney played him in John Huston's 1982 film and Victor Garber in ABC's 1999 TV movie, and Harry Connick Jr. took the role in NBC's Annie Live! (2021).
Reid Shelton originated Warbucks on Broadway in 1977. The 1982 film also surrounds him with Punjab and the Asp, his bodyguards from the original comic strip, and ends with Warbucks leading a citywide search after Annie is kidnapped, rather than the stage version's Christmas unmasking of the fake parents at his mansion.

Oliver Warbucks, known to most as Daddy Warbucks, is a self-made millionaire who initially agrees to host an orphan at his mansion mostly as a publicity gesture.
