Broadway compared with the 1981 film
Steven Sutcliffe originated Younger Brother on Broadway in 1998; Brad Dourif played him in Milos Forman's 1981 film. In both, he joins Coalhouse's group during the siege of J.P. Morgan's library, and in the film it is his knowledge of explosives that makes him useful. Their fates split sharply afterward. In the film, Younger Brother simply returns to his fireworks job. The musical sends him much further: he abandons violence but leaves for Mexico to fight for Emiliano Zapata.
On stage he also sings He Wanted to Say with Emma Goldman, Coalhouse, and the men.
Who is Younger Brother?
