Broadway compared with the 1994 animated film and 2019 remake
Timon's story on stage follows the 1994 film closely: the wisecracking meerkat and his warthog friend Pumbaa rescue the runaway Simba, teach him Hakuna Matata, and help raise him in exile. The differences are mostly in who plays him.
Max Casella originated Timon on Broadway in 1997. Nathan Lane voiced him in the 1994 animated film, and Billy Eichner voiced him in Jon Favreau's 2019 remake. On stage, Timon sings Hakuna Matata with Pumbaa and both young and adult Simba, and joins Pumbaa, Simba, and Nala in Can You Feel the Love Tonight.
Who is Timon?
